Live in El Poblado

El Poblado is Medellín's safest and most developed neighborhood. It has the highest concentration of international restaurants, co-working spaces, rooftop bars, and English-speaking services. Most newcomers start here before exploring other barrios.

El Poblado consistently ranks as Medellín's safest neighborhood and is generally safer than comparable neighborhoods in major US cities. Street crime exists — always take standard precautions — but violent crime against tourists is rare.

Calle 10 (known as 'The Strip') is the main nightlife artery. Provenza Street was named one of the world's 'coolest streets' by Time Out. For residential living, the quieter streets around Parque Bello Horizonte and Astorga are most sought after.

El Poblado has its own Metro station (Line A) connecting directly to the city center in 15 minutes. Uber and DiDi are widely available. InDrive offers even cheaper rides. The neighborhood is walkable within itself.

Most furnished short-term rentals include utilities (water, gas, electricity up to a limit) and high-speed wifi. Long-term unfurnished leases typically do not include utilities, which add $30–$80/mo depending on usage.
